PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Career History: Graduated basic Police Academy in November 2009. Was placed on the Maritime unit becoming a boat operator in 2014. Assisted Coast Guard on numerous operations from escorting high value targets to sea to boarding a cargo vessel prior to allowing it to come into port. During assignment to the Maritime assisted with multiple water rescues.
In 2017 was assigned to the Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team and to serve as part of this specialty team as a collateral duty. Has participated with the team in over 20 operations from vehicle takedowns to high risk search warrants all while continuing work as a Uniform Patrol Officer.
Over 9 years of service has been awarded multiple team work awards, a firearm interdiction award, and a Virginia State Attorney award for involvement with catching serial bank robbery suspects.
Special certifications and training include S.W.A.T. Operator, S.W.A.T. Breacher, Firearms Instructor, AR-15 Armorer, IRTB instructor, and General Instructor
Why is Public Service Important to you?
Public service was never a choice for me. Even prior to joining the Police Department I was doing everything I can to help others. My friends knew they could call me at any time and I would be there to help them. To say I fell into the job would be an understatement but it is one of the best things to ever happen to me. I love the quote ‘If you’re not making someone else’s life better, then you’re wasting your time’. This quote is constantly in my head and has helped me better my performance at work. It has also helped me to appreciate the impact I have on the Public.
